[일간스포츠=이미현 기자] Group BIGBANG and iKON made great achievements of winning five awards and two awards, respectively, in Japan Golden Disc Awards.

In the “31st Japan Golden Disc Awards” whose awardees were announced on February 27, BIGBANG won the best Asian artist award for the first time. BIGBANG also received “album of the year (Asia)” and “best 3 albums (Asia)” award for “MADE SERIES”; “song of the year by download (Asia)” award for “BANG BANG BANG”; and “best music video” award for “MADE”s world tour DVD “LIVE DVD&Blu-ray BIGBANG 2015 World Tour ~2016 [MADE] IN JAPAN”. By winning total five awards, BIGBANG proved their unrivalled popularity once again.

BIGBANG expressed their gratitude for fans by saying, “We’re really honored to receive these truly meaningful awards and we’ll never forget our first resolution and keep working hard in order to give back to the great love from fans.”

iKON also received two awards: “new artist of the year” and “best 3 new artist (Asia)” award. iKON received the rookie of the year award in this year’s Japan Golden Disc Awards, following the best rookie of the year award that they received in “The 58th Japan Record Awards” last year for the first time in seven years as a Korean artist, to prove their outstanding popularity in Japan.

By winning the rookie awards in this year’s “Japan Golden Disc Awards”, iKON set an unprecedented record of winning rookie awards in Korea, Japan, and China at the same time.

iKON expressed their gratitude by saying, “We’re really happy to receive the rookie award which can be won for only once in the lifetime. We can’t thank enough for fans who always support us so warmly. We’ll keep working hard in 2017.”

In the meantime, iKON has been hosting Japan arena tour encore concert “iKON JAPAN TOUR 2016~2017” that began in Osaka on February 10 and 11 to give total nine shows in three cities to entertain 120,000 fans. iKON will hold a Japan dome tour within the shortest period of time of debut as a foreign artist, at Osaka Kyocera Dome on May 20 and at Saitama Seibu Prince dome on June 17.
