Taeyang’s ‘White Night’ tops Billboard’s World Albums chart

SEOUL, Aug. 23 (Yonhap) — BIGBANG member Taeyang’s latest album rose to the top of Billboard’s World Albums chart, according to the music publication Wednesday.

“White Night,” Taeyang’s third solo album, was ranked No. 1 on the chart, becoming the most sold international album in the United States for the week of Sept. 2, according to Billboard’s website.

Other K-pop records leading the chart included EXO’s “The War” and Girls’ Generation’s “Holiday Night” at third and fifth places, respectively.

“White Night” is Taeyang’s first solo work in three years and, just like his other projects, the title is related to the sun. Taeyang, whose name means “sun” in Korean, previously released a mini solo album called “Hot” in 2008 followed by his first full-length solo album “Solar” in 2010 and second album “Rise” in 2014.

Taeyang plans to kick off an international tour to promote the album at Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul next weekend.
