On December 24, the agency reported that the two idols were expected to enlist in the first half of 2018. The BIGBANG members had previously been rumored to be planning to enlist by next spring.

Although Daesung and Seungri are still able to defer their enlistment, it is unclear whether they plan to do so. There has been speculation that the two may forgo postponement in favor of enlisting together with their bandmates, in order to shorten the length of the group’s hiatus. Daesung also expressed his interest in the idea last month, when he discussed the possibility of enlisting next year with Taeyang on the tvN variety show “Livin’ the Double Life.”

At their concert at the Tokyo Dome on December 13, the four BIGBANG members hinted at Taeyang and G-Dragon’s upcoming enlistment by telling their fans, “We’re truly sad that once this tour is over, we won’t be able to see you for a short while.”

Taeyang also recently announced his engagement to actress Min Hyo Rin, his girlfriend of four years. The singer stated at the time, “I plan to register our marriage before I enlist in the army.”

BIGBANG will be holding their last concert of the year, “BIGBANG 2017 Concert ‘Last Dance’ in Seoul,” at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on December 30 and 31.
