Such domination of charts by BIGBANG is going on 64 days in a row.

What is surprising is that not only “BANG BANG BANG” and “WE LIKE 2 PARTY” released on June 1, but also “LOSER” and “BAE BAE” released on May 1 are still staying in top ten on charts. It is an unprecedented record in Korea’s music scene, for a singer of group to rank multiple songs in top ten on charts for 64 consecutive days.

As such, the music industry goes into an emergency mode in the beginning of every month when BIGBANG releases new songs. Many singers are adjusting their schedule of new release, to avoid confrontation with BIGBANG. The rush of girl groups’ comeback which was expected to excite this summer’s music scene is also overwhelmed by BIGBANG’s explosive power.

BIGBANG is realizing their goal of “making all songs in an album into title tracks”, by leading their unprecedented project of releasing new songs every month from May to August to great success. The project was launched by YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK, to release BIGBANG’s new songs on the 1 of every month from May this year. This kind of plan was possible because it is carried out BIGBANG, and it is evaluated as a new trial and fresh attempt that goes against the existing trend of the current music scene. After releasing “E” of the series in August, a full-length album will be completed under the title of “MADE” in September.

Music videos are creating sensation, too. The music video of “SOBER” released with the music on the 1 at 0 o’clock has surpassed 1 million views, recording total 1,140,237 views within eight hours from release. The number of views of “LOSER”, “BAE BAE”, “BANG BANG BANG”, and “WE LIKE 2 PARTY” has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube all together, and now BIGBANG is to set a new record with the video of “SOBER”. The videos of “IF YOU” and “SOBER” are adding to BIGBANG sensation, by surpassing four million views within two days from release.

“IF YOU” that is now sweeping charts is known as the saddest ever song in the history of BIGBANG, and drew a big attention even before its release. The song’s calm and sophisticated voice color and melody, as well as sad lyrics are catching the ears of listeners. Notably, T.O.P and G-DRAGON’s tender vocal gives a fresh impression. “SOBER” is a cool summer song that fits perfectly with the season, which entertains music fans with a fresh appeal completely different from “IF YOU”.

In an interview before the release of “IF YOU”, YG’s head YANG said in an interview with OSEN, “’IF YOU’ is the saddest ever song in the history of BIGBANG, and is my personal favorite in BIGBANG’s latest album. I was overwhelmed with emotions while listening to the song. It surely is the saddest ever song among all the songs BIGBANG has released for nine years. I’m in my forties and was so much touched by the song, then, it will touch not only teenagers and twenty-somethings but also people from all generations to burst into tears. It is the first time for me to get more excited about BIGBANG’s new album than the members themselves”, and YANG’s prediction is now being realized.
