On May 9, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office revealed that they have filed pretrial detention warrants for Seungri and Yoo In Suk on various charges including prostitution mediation, embezzlement, violation of the Food Sanitation Act, and in the case of Seungri, receiving prostitution services.

The process of issuing a pretrial detention warrant begins with the police requesting the prosecution to issue a warrant. Once the prosecution approves the request, they file it to court. Afterwards, the court will hold questioning to determine the validity of the warrant.

Pretrial detention warrants for Seungri and Yoo In Suk have been requested.

The police requested the warrants on May 8 and explained, “It appears that the two conspired for acts including mediation of prostitution and embezzlement.” The police added that exact details cannot be revealed as the case is still under investigation.

A pretrial detention warrant allows for a suspect to be detained for longer than 48 hours. It is granted if the court rules that there is potential for a suspect to flee or destroy evidence.

Seungri and Yoo In Suk are being suspected of mediating prostitution on several occasions in 2015 and 2017 and embezzling funds from Monkey Museum, Burning Sun, and more.
