In one of the most anticipated auctions of the year, collectors vied for works of Contemporary Art curated by Asian pop icon T.O.P bringing a total HK$136 million (US$17.4 million). The sale showcased new and important Asian artists who are quickly gaining notoriety on the global stage alongside their western counterparts. The top lot was Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Infantry, which sold for HK$46.7 million (US$6 million). Other highlights included Rudolf Stingel’s Untitled, which sold for HK$15.7 million (US$2 million), Gerhard Richter’s Abstraktes Bild, which sold for HK$12 million (US$1.6 million) and Lee Ufan’s With Winds, which sold for HK$10.9 million (US$1.4 million). Shown above, Nawa Kohei’s PixCell – T.O.P (DOOM DADA), a work commissioned specially for #TTTOP sold for HK$562,500 (US$72,540).
